FIRST YEAR FINAL PIECE

Half Corset with Appliqué Sheer Bodysuit

Flowers- Muslin Dyed flowers (Purple and Blue) stitched onto acetate, Calico dyed flowers (yellow and purple) stitched onto acetate, stitched to bodysuit
Half Corset- Dyed blue calico with machine embroidery floral print

This garment has been taken from my final exam piece. As seen in my development and research, I have been inspired by dresses such as Valentino's 'Bird Dress'. I wanted the flowers crawling up the garment to look 3D so I backed them with acetate to make them stand up and not just sit against the garment. The colour scheme is seen throughout my body of work and was drawn from the imagery I collected.

DEVELOPMENT FOR FINAL PIECE

March- 2016

Left Sample- Sheer fabric dyed with dyed calico flowers, individually stitched on with embroidery detail on stems
Right Sample- Sheer fabric with floral dyed pattern

This board displays the development towards my final piece. It shows the chosen colours, shapes and fabrics I wanted to use. The images convey where my inspiration came from and how I hoped to transfer my ideas onto a garment.

TEXTILES- PUNK- SUPREME RESPONSE- INITIAL RESEARCH

September- 2016

Media- Leather sample with stitch, paper and dye, acetate and acrylic

The magazine cut out on the left is part of my initial research for Punk. It is a Supreme Print which I wanted to explore within my own work. This sketchbook page shows an example of my research and experimentation, using different medias and exploring a colour scheme.

TEXTILES- PUNK- SCREEN PRINT EXPERIMENTATION

October- 2016

Screen print exploration with colours and backgrounds

As screens are quick and easy to use I wanted to experiment with lots of different colours I had been using throughout my project. I also explored using only a part of the print (as seen in last image onto calico).

TEXTILES- PUNK- SKETCHBOOK EXAMPLE

TEXTILES- PUNK- TWO PIECE

December- 2016

60's Nightwear Pattern

For the Punk brief I wanted to create a loose fitting two piece with shorts, when I found this 60's Nightwear Pattern I thought it was the perfect juxtaposition. I wanted to put a punk twist on something that was the complete opposite, making it baggy and a dark tartan print.

ART, CRAFT AND DESIGN- INSECTS- EXAM FINAL PIECE

March- 2016

Appliqué Altered Pieces- Dye and stitch onto Calico to create the butterfly, machine embroidery onto patches

For this final piece I wanted to take my drawing skills from Art and show them on a garment. As the exam time is limited and the butterfly required a lot of detail I decided to use a vintage jacket to work onto. This outcome was inspired by Valentino's Camubutterfly Collection.

ART, CRAFT AND DESIGN- INSECTS- TEXTILE PIECE

Size: A4

February 2016

Poly Tile print rotated and repeated. Quilting and stitching were added to create the raised pattern and make this sample 3D.

This piece was created as part of my Insects project. I focused a lot on Butterfly and Bees, this print exploring the pattern found on Bees. The stitch in the centre of the pattern was added so that I could create further depth within the piece.

ART, CRAFT AND DESIGN- COASTAL- SHELL DRAWING

Size: (Both) A4

December- 2015

Media- Pen and Ink drawing with tapes and papers

These sketches are a part of my first ACD brief of Coastal. I was exploring with different medias to get an overall, layered, watery look.

ART, CRAFT AND DESIGN- FIRST YEAR FINAL PIECE- COASTAL

Size: A3

 January- 2016

Media- Monoprint onto Calico, dyed using fabric dyes then stitched into for detail

With the brief for this project being Coastal, I decided to explore shells. I wanted to have my final piece on fabric but to still include drawing. This piece shows my best skills from this project, dye with stitch to create a 3D effect.
